Nigerian Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, in a press briefing today, said it is the responsibility of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to compensate students for the time wasted during the six-month strike, not the Federal Government.
According to Adamu, ASUU demanded that we pay their five(5) months of withheld salaries before they suspend the strike but we said NO. The FG won’t pay for the work you didn’t do, the minister said.
The Minister also advised affected public university students to “take ASUU to court” if they are interested in returning back to campus.
