Burkina Faso: Government extends internet suspension

The government of Burkina Faso has extended the suspension of mobile internet services.

Internet was due to be restored in the country on Wednesday after being shut down for four days.

The cut in mobile internet services came amid anti-French demonstrations and growing political unrest in the country over uncertainty.

The government has said the suspension is based on national security and defense.

The government spokesman extended the suspension  Wednesday evening, citing the same security reasons.

however, earlier in the week the spokesman made a contradicting statement that the nation wanted silence as it buried its soldiers on Tuesday.

dozens of soldiers were killed in an alleged jihadist attack in the north last week.
