Paul Pogba has suffered an injury to the lateral meniscus and will have to undergo surgery – Club confirms

Juventus confirm that Paul Pogba has picked up a meniscus injury that may require surgery which would rule him out for months

The midfielder re-joined Juventus earlier this month after his contract with Manchester United expired.

Pogba initially swapped Manchester for Turin in 2012 but chose to return to Old Trafford in a then-world-record £89 million transfer in 2016.

An image on social media shows Pogba being assisted off the pitch by medical staff and it has now been confirmed he has suffered a lesion of his lateral meniscus.

The severity of the injury is currently unknown.

Juventus have said Pogba will not travel to Dallas for Wednesday’s friendly with Barcelona and will instead see a specialist.

“Following complaining of pain in his right knee, Paul Pogba underwent radiological examinations that revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus,” the club explained in a statement.

“In the next few hours he will undergo a specialist orthopaedic consultation. Therefore, in order to continue treatment, he is not taking part in the trip to Dallas.”
