Political parties in Nigeria have never stood for any form of ideology as they ought to be – Falz

Singer, Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz has said that political parties in Nigeria have never stood for the ideologies that can help its people.

Falz, stated this on Arise TV Prime Time programme, noting that Nigerians should vote for the right candidate and not political parties.

Falz said, “At this moment, I cannot say this or that is my candidate but what I can say for sure is that there is no way I’m in support of the same old system that brought this rot. So, anyone else coming from the same old system that brought about this rot knows for sure that I’m not going to vote for them.

“It is important for people to look at the candidates and the people rather than parties. There are the people that are the frontrunners now who have proven track records of doing something for the people. Who have proven track records of selflessness, honesty, transparency and wanting the best for everyone.

“You can’t expect that somebody who has been in this same rotten system all these years will suddenly change overnight. It is not going to happen.

“The political parties that we have and that we have had in this country have never stood for any form of ideology as they ought to be. Whether APC or PDP, if you ask the frontrunners now, ‘what is the ideology of your political party?’ I’m sure they don’t know what to say.

“They are being run like clubs. They are jumping and switching from one to the other, and that is why I said I can never vote for anyone who has been in this old system.

“It is sad to see that this is what we are inheriting from our fathers. I say it to my father every time that this is their fault because they allowed this to happen, because for a very long time, the energy Nigerians have had has been one of being so docile, being so lackadaisical.

“Ever since I have been conscious of what is going on, Nigeria has been a mess. It is tough. There is a very serious draining happening. Everybody is running away. The situation is too horrible for the young people to bear. They are looking for greener pastures outside.”

It is clear that these criminal politicians have consistently weaponized poverty –
