Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has directed the Commissioner for Works in the state, Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, to commence the rehabilitation of Celestine Omehia Road, formerly known as SARS Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
According to the statement, critical failed sections of the road will be reconstructed with composite pavement; that is a combination of concrete (rigid) and asphalt (flexible) to avoid reoccurring of such dilapidation in the near future.
Also, the drainage system on both sides of the road will undergo cleaning and desilting because they have been heavily blocked by the buildup of loose materials and obstruction.
Motorists have also been advised to consider alternative routes around that axis during the short period of the rehabilitation work.
